Ruhl Forensic Provides Expert Analysis for the Armed Forces
During the past 10 years, Dr. Ruhl has been honored by numerous U.S. military requests to serve as an expert in military trials in Europe. Working with attorneys from various branches of the military, Dr. Ruhl has provided expertise in the areas of accident reconstruction and vehicle dynamics for servicemen involved in fatal accidents in other countries. The work is especially challenging since the time frame from initial investigation to trial is very short and the rigorous standards of military trials apply.
Ruhl Forensic staff work with Dr. Ruhl to provide technical and graphics support. Telecommunications allow Dr. Ruhl to transport the needed data for accurate, scientific analysis and simulations to the United States. Once our state-of-the-art computer programs have been used to generate simulation video and trial exhibits, the finished simulations can then be downloaded at the military bases in Europe where these trials are held (Aviano, Ramstein, Lackenheath).
Ruhl staff familiarity with international standards and road usage through our relationships with IbB Expertisen and other European reconstructionists has been key in providing accurate depiction of road signs and roadway layouts for the simulation work. These Ruhl Forensic/IbB affiliates also are instrumental in providing access to European vehicle specifications, allowing an understanding of the differences in vehicle performance between European and U.S. vehicles. The differences can be critical for an accurate vehicle dynamic analysis.
Human factors are an integral part of military case analysis. Service personnel are often in unfamiliar vehicles and surroundings and this lack of familiarity must be taken into account with regard to attempted avoidance procedures, perception reaction time, etc.
