Carl J. Altstetter, Sc.D.
Sc.D. in Materials Science and Engineering
Dr. Altstetter is a retained metallurgical consultant with Ruhl Forensic, specializing in corrosion, alloy design, and failure analysis of metals. He is professor emeritus in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Altstetter has authored over 125 research publications that have appeared in scientific journals and conference proceedings. He has been invited to speak on research activities by universities in the USA, Australia, Russia, South Africa, Korea, Taiwan, China, Japan, Germany, France, England Yugoslavia, Poland and Portugal; he was also a visiting professor at the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Throughout his career, Dr. Altstetter has consulted with industry in the areas of research and manufacturing and has provided legal consulting in products liability and failure analysis situations. Dr. Altstetter earned his post-graduate degrees at the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
